You Are A What?!

Yes, that is the reaction I get from some people when they learn that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons).  Others rely on rumors they have heard, or false information that is often shared about the Mormons by folks who haven't even checked it out for themselves to be sure their information is right.

If you wonder what being a Mormon means, you can find that information here:  http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/mormonism-101

It is bound to answer a lot of questions you may have.

Rain Barrel Mystery Solved

I received a really neat email that I wanted to share with everyone, but couldn't figure out how to on Facebook.  Then...ah...do a blog post then post the link on Facebook...yep, that works!

People living in Colorado Springs wondered why their rain water

barrel was almost empty every day. They set up a couple cameras

and look what they caught on film ~ Isn't nature beautiful?

Absolutely priceless?
How long can a bear take a bath in my rain barrel?
As long as he wants to!

How a Husband Can Get Into Trouble Without Trying

The phone rang and I answered, "Hello."  ...voice on phone "Can I talk to the man of my dreams?"...."What?"...."I would like to talk to the man of my dreams."  ..."Who is this?"  ..."Who is THIS?"  ..."This is (Dee last name)."  ...."Who?"   "This is (Dee last name)."   ..."Oh.  Is this (states my phone number)?"  ..."Yes it is."   ...."Oh.  I have the wrong phone number written in my phone book.  I'm sorry."

My husband says, "What was that all about?"  So I tell him the whole phone exchange, and say, "You will have to wait until I am gone and call her back."  [hehehehe]  And so started my Tuesday.

Fashion Don'ts...low-rise jeans!

When will the fashion designers go back to jeans that come up to the waist. The low-rise jeans may be fine for thin people, but it is NOT attractive, nor comfortable, on a heavier person!!! Com'on...raise those waist-lines again!!!

Makes Me Wonder...

I wonder how many times I have looked silly from behind...since I don't really have eyes in the back of my head (as my kids used to claim), I guess I will never know.  This is so funny:

Be Yourself, No Matter What

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” ~Henry David Thoreau

This quote has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid in high school, shortly after dinosaurs roamed the earth (well, okay, it feels that long)

The other day, I found the following graphic on facebook.  I'm sorry I don't know who the originator was or I would gladly give them the credit.  If it was you, please let me know.  But the point is, this reminded me of the David Thoreau quote that I love so much.

However, even though I love this quote and the following graphic, I am ashamed to admit I don't always live it.  Sometimes I find myself viewing a person who "is following their own drummer" and I thinking not-so-good things.  I have to remind myself that, in fact, it is a GOOD thing that they are being who they are, and yes, even admire that fact.

So if you are one of those who are "different'', I say to you, dance on!  As it is said, "Those who care don't matter, and those who matter don't care."

Problem: King Size Fitted Sheets

If you have a king size bed, I bet you have run into this problem: which way is the correct way for the fitted sheet to cover the mattress.  The problem is that a king size bed is almost square...almost, but not quite.  That means that there is a correct way for the sheet to go on, and an incorrect way.  The correct way will reach corner to corner side to side, and top to bottom...the incorrect way is that the sheet will come up short from top to bottom.  So you make your bed, and you may have turn the sheet a few times just to see which way is correct.

Here is how I have solved the problem.  Using a laundry marker, I find the correct way for the fitted sheet to fit, then I mark the bottom right corner with the marker.  From then on, all I have to do is look for my mark, and put that corner in the bottom right.  Voila!  No more making and re-making because it is right the first time, every time.

Alternatively, you could use colorful thread and sew your mark onto a corner.  Choose which ever corner you want to mark.  For me, the bottom right was easiest because once the blanket and bedspread is on, no one will see the mark but me.  Also, one set of my sheets happens to have a tag in the bottom right corner of the fitted sheet, so I just stuck with that corner when marking my other sheet sets.
